Becoming righteous and bringing justice hinges on our willingness to tear down anything that might take God’s place in our hearts. This is why we are capping off the spring semester with a series called Tear Down the Idols. Throughout the Bible, we see people struggle to become all God created them to be and wrestle with devoting themselves to the One who set them free. And this is our story too. We were created with a special purpose, restored to us by Jesus, the One who rescued us from our slavery to sin and brought us back to Him. Now, we have a choice to make. What will we do with our freedom? Whom will you serve? In this series, we will show our students a new perspective on some of the biggest things we are tempted to tether our allegiance to, what it looks like to unseat those idols, and how to bring change to the world by living out our God-given purpose. It’s time to tear down the idols and live fully devoted to Him. Because, as Charles Spurgeon once wrote, “Nothing teaches us about the preciousness of the Creator as much as when we learn the emptiness of everything else.”
